This trail may have grown a bit cold, but I have some mention of John Kuenzel amongst history of my family in Adrian.
A county biography for Lenawee, Adrian's county -- gives a short history of the family and descendents of Frederick Gippert. This gentleman was married to Margaret Kuenzel, and here is what the passage says about Margaret's (Marguerite's) family:
"... Miss Margaret Keunzel, daughter of George and Kathrine Kuenzel, natives of Germany. Her father was a baker by trade, and lived and died in Germany. Seven children were born to the Kuenzel family: John, who came to America and died in the city of Adrian, in 1907; Andrew, who lives in Germany; Frederick, living in Germany; Wolf, deceased; Barbara, living in the old country; Antonio, now residing in Toledo; and Marguerite. Mrs. Gippert was born in her father's home country, May 18, 1836, and there she was educated. In her eighteenth year she came to America, making the trip alone. Her brother, John, had come to this country a few years before, had written for her and met her at New York.
Margaret Kuenzel Gippert and Frederick Gippert were my gg grandmother and grandfather through my mother; the Gippert's daughter Elizabeth had a daughter Esther, who was my mother's mother.
