Alton, as usual, I will give more info than asked. Lewis Kinsey was father of Raiford. Lewis was son of Daniel, son of Absalom. My GGG GM Rhoda (Kinsey) Gilbert (Mrs. Martin Gilbert) was a sister of Lewis.
(There was an ďAbs. Kiny,Ē listed as on of the first settlers in Upson Co., GA, but I never found where he or any of his family went to Upson Co., GA that early. Absalom b 17 Feb 1853 Jones/Craven Co., NC and Ridley b 25 Nov 1742, his wife moved with the youngest children from NC to Tuscwarwas Co.,OH, and died there. Still hoping that someone can turn up how and why my ancestor's name was listed that early.)
Raiford Kinsey married on 17 Feb 1853 in Upson Co., GA., Mary Elizabeth Ray b aft 1839; she was daughter of George Washington Ray b 1806 who m Mary Nelson. From your posting, I would assume that Stanmore Butler Pitt was son-in-law of Raiford Kinsey & Mary Elizabeth (Ray). I didnít attempt to document Raifordís children except for Martha Elizabeth b abt 1853 who m David Self.
Martin Gilbert moved to Upson Co., GA about 1835 from NC (awaiting DNA proof, but I believe his line goes back to 1270 AD to Sir Thomas Gilbert, and have confirmed/proven back to about 1500.) Martinís next door neighbor was a 4th cousin Jabez Gilbert (moved to Manchester, etc.) Jabezís sister Elizabeth married John Ray. Jabez & Elizabeth siblings included a brother Drury Gilbert whose estate was probably the largest in the 1800ís in Upson Co.
Itís interesting that my gg Calvin Gilbert m Susan (Peters), granddaughter of James W. Pitts 1770-1838 & Keziah Johnston. James descended from Gervase De La Puette b 1160 Normandy France, d probably Sussex Co., England, latter father of Simon De La Pitte Ė and family named changed through the centuries, which made it difficult for me to trace through the years. This means that through the Pitts, Kinsey & Giberts there would be very few families that are not connected, probably more than onece.
I am curious which of James W.ís sons you descended from as I didnít attempt to see which Pitts connected, or if they did? James W. had Nathan, Isaac, & Carrington? Isaac went to Troup Co., and Carrington to LaGrange Ė didnít see Nathan when researching that family years ago. Of course James W. had 8 brothers and 2 sisters, and one of those could have moved to the Upson Co., area where the Pitts migrated early
