Local Torbay Men Who Joined William's Army
Posted by: Mark Snow (ID *****6722) Date: August 03, 2008 at 16:22:09

When WIlliam landed at Torbay on 5 Nov 1688, his army was joined by a number of locals. My ggggg grandfather was Henry Snow, who was born in Torbay in 1674.

His obituary notice from 1771 in the Boston Dispatch and later reprinted in the New York Gazette Mercury reads: "Snow, Henry, who was born at Torbay in 1674 and who in 1688 served under William of Orange - died last week in upper parish of Kittery, aged 97..."

Is there any way to verify if he served and for how long? He'd have only been 14, so I suppose he was more of a helper with supplies or the camp and not a fighter of any kind (not that much fighting happened in the English side of this conflict anyway).

Thanks!
