Union of the Crowns 1603 - James VI of Scotland became James I & VI of Great Britain and Ireland. His son Charles became Charles I on his death and, with a minor interference of the Civil War, was followed by Charles II. He was followed by James II(England) & VII(Scotland). This was the James on the other side at the Boyne. He was NOT popular in Scotland where his rule is known as ' the killing times'. James II & VI was Charles II' brother and his daughter Mary was married to William of Orange. So William's wife was fighting her father. Aye Malcolm Notify Administrator about this message?
