I don’t know whether anyone is still following this thread with the last entries submitted in 2007 , but here goes:
It seems that most of those entries that I have read are from descendants of Alfred Kingscote and Annie Allen who arrived in Canada by the ship Circassian on Sept 9,1887.
Their accompanying children were Henry, age 3, and Charles Harris age less than 1 year.
They had two children previous to this who had died as young children, namely William Edward 1878-1879 and Alfred Charles 1881-1887
He established a business in Peterborough making canvas goods. Other children were Henry who was born in 1884, Charles Harris in 1887, Laura 1891-1907, Alfred Allen born 1895 and Hannah Maria in1897.
Alfred moved to Toronto around 1913. His children appeared to have reverted to the historical spelling Kingscott by then.
Alfred was born in Gloucester UK in 1855. Hewas the son of Alfred Kingscott and Maria. Alfred (father) was the son of William Kingscott (b. 1799) and his wife Sarah Curthoys.
The family came from south Gloucestershire around Thornbury and Olveston.
I suspect that the family came originally from Kingscote, an ancient hamlet in the Cotswolds not far from Thornbury.
