Scott; Your grandfather is Kenneth Herbert Kingsbury and your grandmother is Carol Marie (Olson) Kingsbury. Your grandfather was born 27 Decembner 1914 in Minneapolis and died 20 August 1988 in New Hope, Minnesota. You descdfend from what is called the Henry Kingsbury, Jr. line who settled in Ipswich, Massachusetts in 1634. I have a wealth of information that I can share if you will contact me directly at [email protected].
Az for the Kingsbury DNA project, I am the group administrator of this project and we currently have 40 participants in our group. We would love to have your branch participate in the study, but you would need to ask your Uncle to actually supply the DNA sample. For it to have any relevence to the Kingsbury study it must be a male Kingsbury that participates. Your DNA would help you with your Johnston line, but it would not give you any information about the Kingsbury clan. Even if you took the mtDNA for the female line it would not really help as it would only go back as far as your mother which would not give you any information on your grandfather as it follows the female line only and would be on your grandmother. I highly recommend that you check out our Kingsbuiry surname study on the www.familytreedna.com web site. Let me know direct if you have further questions.
