King Philip's War and the Sudbury Fight
People whose ancestors lived in the original Town of Sudbury (which included the present Towns of Sudbury, Wayland, and most of Maynard) in the Massachusetts Bay Colony on 21 April 1676 may be interested in an overview of the battles comprising the Sudbury Fight on the web page at:

Most of the buildings and possessions of the Colonial settlers living in the area comprising the present Towns of Sudbury and Maynard were destroyed on 21 April 1676.
However, the lives of those settlers who had taken refuge in the several fortified Garrison Houses in that area were spared by the abrupt and surprising departure of the hostile Native American warriors late in the day.
This web page also includes a discussion of the significant impact that King Philip's War had in New England and the rest of what became the U. S A. over the following three hundred years.
