King Philip's War/Stockade, Longmeadow, MA.
There used to be a King's Philip's Stockade in a section of Longmeadow, MA. which is now part of Springfield, MA. near the back of Forest Park Zoo, and on Route 5.
This was a site seeing area at one time. I remeber the totem poles and a huge Indian monument. This was closed due to people dealing drugs in the woods, and also the Interstate 91 highway being built.
The curator of the Richard Storr's house in Longmeadow, MA. searched for the old brass Indian Monument that had been moved at the time, which is owned by the town Longmeadow, MA. She found it lying in the Springfield Museum, covered with a sheet. I think she got it back, but hasn't found the right spot to display it properly.
There should be history of this Stockade at the Richard Storr's Library in Longmeadow, MA. or even at the Conn. Valley Historical Museum in Springfield, MA.'s Quadrangle on State St.
Just thought I'd add this on the site for anyone trying to research this war.
