I have an earliest known female ancestress that was supposedly born about 1760 in or near Anson County, North Carolina. Her last name is unknown, but often guessed at. She married Jacob Falconbury/-berry in or around 1777. I finally had myFamily Finder test done, and although not a huge number of matches (compared with other people), some are from that region. One surname that has poppedup is King, although I haven't payed much attention to that one. But seeing that the King surname was there, I'm taking another look. A King line could have come down from Augusta County, Virginia. I saw a Jane King who was born there on someone's tree. There was amovement down to Anson County around 1750, from Augusta County, VA. There was some kind of land ownership dispute where title to land could not be guaranteed. So the crown offered to open up that NC area for settlement. Settlers who first went to Augusta (Orange) Countycame down from Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and even New England, from what I've gathered.
