Barbara:hope you are still out there.Ran across this message and felt I had to respond.Have been working on this line for over 30 years.Have uncovered Thomas King's Birthdate (4/8/1695, Londonderry) and Baptismal Record dated 7/5/1695.His father's name was also Thomas, and the Baptismal record also indicates something significant:
A Mary Willis is listed as dying the same day as Thomas Sr.'s birth. This may be his mother - she apparently died in childbirth; why else would it be on his Baptismal record??The lines indicating Thomas Jr. was married to Mary Willis must be confusing Thomas Jr. with his grandfather Thomas (this Mary Willis is also recorded as having died in Londonderry -- an impossibility, because Thomas Jr. was born in Pennsylvania).
The elder Thomas was born in Londonderry, it is unknown where he died (Londonderry or Pennsylvania -- no known record)-- and he was the son of Robert King (2/20/1648, Cockburnspath, Berwickshire, Scotland) - 1704 (New Castle, PA [now Delaware]).Robert's father was John King (aka John MacAra the Younger) (b. 10/13/1622, Kilsyth, Perthshire, Scotland -- apparently died in Ulster). His father was John MacGregor (aka John MacAra the Elder), of the Dougal Ciar MacGregors of Balquhidder, Scotland.
Thomas King Sr. and Jane Sharp had the following probable
children:
Michael (10/30/1714 - 7/25/1782)
Thomas Jr. (1716-1755) Proven son
James (1718-1768) Proven son
Edward (c. 1720-1790) Proven son
Barbara (Barbary) (c. 1724-c. 1794)
Margaret (c. 1726-c. 1796)
William (c. 1730-c. 1800)
Elizabeth (1737-8/30/1817) Proven daughter
Catherine (1741-1816)
Would be happy to share additional Information.
