Hi everyone,

I am trying to locate any information for the parents and brother of John Perkins King. The only information I have is that John Perkins King was born or christened 31 March 1816 Ramsgate, Kent, England. He was orphaned when he was approximately 10 years old. He and his brother (name unknown)were sent to work at sea by their aunty. His brother was an apprentice on the American shipping route and was never heard of again presumed lost at sea. John Perkins King was at one stage a mate on the ship "Emu".

John Perkins King has been listed as Captain and Master Mariner in Tasmanian Census and various other records. He settled in Tasmania where he married Elizabeth Webber and had two children and became a well respected member of society.

I would very much appreciate any information or links that fellow researchers might be able to share.

regards

Julie Pascoe
