My ancestors John Satterwhite Higginbotham and Vileta Higginbotham Turman (children of Samuel Higginbotham and Jane Satterwhite) of Elbert Co., GA had a sister Clarysa "Clary" Higginbotham who married Stephen Chatham on 5 Apr 1810 in Elbert Co. Stephen Chatham was from Franklin Co., GA and his Will was in Frnklin Co. and proved on 3 Jul 1826. In it he named his daughter Bernicy Green Chatham. She married on 18 Nov 1826 to Johnson Monroe Hooper who was born 19 Aug 1804 in Pendleton/Union District, SC. They moved west, eventually settling in Leake Co., MS at Edinburg and having 17 children. Johnson Monroe Hooper was the son of Matthew Brooks Hooper and Elizabeth Adams Word. Matthew Brooks Hooper was the son of Obediah Hooper and Massilva Brookes, dau. of Richard Brookes and wife Mary. Matthew Brooks Hooper's Will was made on 19 Nov 1842 in Franklin Co., GA. Obediah Hooper's Will was made on 16 Jul 1800 in Franklin Co. Johnson Monroe Hooper's Will was made on 12 Mar 1864 in Leake Co., MS. My e-mail yonahdells@windstream.net
