I don't find an Alvin King that's "Famous in Navy" but I found this one.

Alvin O. King (1932)Governor King was born on June 21, 1890, in Leoti, Kansas. King’s father was a Kansas farmer who, when Alvin was four months old, joined a movement that took the family to the new rice fields in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Education in public schools, Governor King received an LL.B degree from Tulane University in 1915. He married Wille Lee Morris in 1916 and they had two children, Alvin O. Jr., and Voris.
King was an attorney in Lake Charles when he was elected to the Louisiana State Senate in 1924. In 1930, during Huey’s administration, he was elected president pro-tempore of the Senate. Following a bitter split between Huey and his Lt. Governor, Paul St. Cyr, King was appointed to complete the remainder of Huey’s term as Governor.
