My gggggrandfather was Thornton Kindred Sr, who was the son of Thomas, son of Bartholomew. Some of my great aunts wrote their memories of the family. One of them mentioned that Thornton Sr. was a private in the War of 1812. I have found references about his father in the Revolutionary war and about his son in Civil War, but can't find any references about Thornton in the War of 1812. My information is that he went to Michigan, then came back to Tennessee in about 1826.I don't know which state he would have enlisted from. Does anybody have any information about the war of 1812 and the people who fought in it.
