Spelling Variations of KIND?

We have the KINDE /KINDY /KINDIE surname in our family. We have a Louis KINDE b. ca. 1824 in Germany. He emigrated in 1854. He lived in the Warren, Russel, PA area, then moved to Rochester, NY. and died there 22 Aug., 1900. Does anyone know of this family, and do you know if this is originally the KIND surname?
