Hi Bryan: I have a Kincheloe/McPherson geneaology book which shows a Phelps/Kincheloe connection. They were related by marriage, apparently. The book says that an Elizabeth Phelps (born in Ohio-1836) was living with Jesse Kincheloe and his wife, Mary (Butler). (Page 108) He is listed in this book as being a farmer owning about 400 acres on Worthington Creek in Wood County, VA - now W. VA. The book says that "Jesse Kincheloe's home is a beautiful farm on Worthington Creek having splendid level land bordered by hills covered with blue grass an ideal farm for cultivating and grazing. A number of the family are burried in the cemetery" which is on the farm. I am a Kincheloe descendant. My Kincheloes are cousins to the W. VA Kincheloes. The W. VA Kincheloes originally lived in Prince William County and Fairfax County, VA. My family migrated to Rectortown in Fauquier County which was once part of Prince William. The Kincheloe/McPherson genealogy book can be found on eBay fairly often either in book form or on CD. It could possibly help you to further establish the Phelps connection. There are quite a few Phelpses listed in the index. The book is quite compresenhive and you could practically go blind researching things in it as it was compiled from type-written pages which can be hard to read, at times. I would help you look but just don't have the time. It's all so very involved and I am having difficulty getting my branch of the family figured out.

Hope that helps. Lorri Mechem, Warrenton, VA
