John B. and Mary Kimmel arrived in Baltimore in 1837 or 1838 from Hessen-Kassel (Germany) and settled in Aurora, Indiana, where he applied for citizenship in 1843. Ships list and census records mention children Maria Catherine, Michael, Francis, George, John and Catherine. John B. was a weaver in his homeland. He was operating a boarding house in 1850, per the national census. County immigration records report he was one of the original families of St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church in Lawrenceburg. Michael was 19 in the 1850 census; occupation bar keeper in Aurora. He would have been born in Germany (Hessen-Kassel). His will was filed in Lawrenceburg, Indiana in 1876. That's all I have. You may findthe information you need from church records at St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church in Lawrenceburg, Michael's obituary in a local newspaper, and Michael's 1876 will. Let me know if you ever compile a complete family record for this Kimmel family! Notify Administrator about this message?
