Ormond Kimbrough and Elizabeth Davie - Surry County North Carolina

I am new to this site and am trying to pick up on a lead from my great-grandfather, Rev. Marmaduke Kimbrough Thornton. He claims our descent through Ormond Kimbrough's marriage to Elizabeth Davie (Surry Co, NC 1795) and we have good records from there. I've seen their marriage bond in the NC archives, but no father for Elizabeth is listed on the bond. While my great-grandfather states that she is the daughter of William Richardson Davie (Governor of NC and Revolutionary War General), I saw no record of "Elizabeth" in the books I've read about him. The links between W R Davie and the Patillo family, and the links between the Kimbroughs and the Patillos, lead me to believe that there is some connection.

Being a novice on this site, is there anyone out there who has more information on this, or can give me some general guidelines? Thanks -- Ed
