My ancestor Charles W. Kimbrel, b 1795 Burke Co. Ga. was the son of Charles Kimbrel who came from the Bute, Granville, Warren, Orange Co. areas of North Carolina. His father and grandfatehr were from Brunswick Co and Surry Co Virginia before that. They were Kimballs.

I have long believed that Charles W.'s fahter Charles was married to Ann Walker, b. abt 1750 dtr of James Walker, Sr. b. Westmoreland Co., Va. and settled in Orange Co., NC.

Therefore, I find your Kimbrel/Walker connection extremely interesting. I wonder if Rachel, Catherine and John Joseph might have been cousins of my Charles W. Kimbrel. There were many Kimbrel, Kimbell and Kimball families in that area of N.C. from about 1735-40. Their progenitor Joseph Kimball died in Surry Co., VA in 1710.

Sorry I cannot solve your mystery, but rather have added more to it. Perhaps we can help each other. Do you have any male Kimbrel cousins who could participate in the DNA project?
