Ethel Maud Kimber was my grandmother. She married Walter John Clarke, a hay merchant/smallholder in Minety, Wiltshire in 1913. Her birth certificate gives her father's name as James Marshment and occupation as Packing Case Maker. Her mother's maiden name was Sarah Ann Walker. She was born in Reading in 1882.
I note from the 1881 census return that Edith, Alice, Ethel and William were all born in Reading, Louisa was born in Ramsbury?, and later children were born in Crofton. Their father was calling himself James Kimber at that time.
James and Sarah were married in 1876 and his name is given then as James Kimber Marshment. I have a photo of a family gathering at a wedding anniversary, possibly their 50th and also a card with her wedding photo sent from "A" (Alice?) to my grandmother.
