Alvin W. Kimball, Sr. Obit
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — Alvin W. Kimball, Sr., age 86, of Murfreesboro, Tenn., formerly of the Onsted-Brooklyn area, passed away Monday, April 7, 2008, in Murfreesboro.
Alvin was born on Jan. 3, 1922, in Rollin Township, Lenawee County, Mich., the son of Earl W. and Minnie B. (Mapes) Kimball. He graduated from Onsted High School in 1940. Alvin served in the United States Army during World War II. He married Naomi B. Pickford on Jan. 23, 1948 in Onsted. She preceded Alvin in death on Sept. 7, 1988. Alvin was former the Acting Postmaster for Onsted, he worked at Adrian-Lenawee Electric Company, was a custodian and bus driver for Onsted Schools and a milk hauler for Sanderson-Goodlock Trucking. He was a Life Member of Durkee-Segar Post #550 American Legion in Onsted and of Disabled American Veterans in Adrian and a member of the Union Gospel Church in Tipton.
Alvin is survived by two sons, Alvin (Joani) Kimball, Jr. of Auburndale, Fla., and Richard (Gail) Kimball of Brooklyn; two daughters, Caryn (Steve) Lebo of Christiana, Tenn., and Sandra Kimball of Zephyrhills, Fla.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Ilah Yeutter of Adrian. He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
Funeral Services for Alvin will at 11 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2008, at the Dunn Chapel, Brown-Van Hemert Funeral Home in Onsted, with Pastor Tom McMichael officiating. Interment will follow at North Rome Cemetery in Manitou Beach with full military honors performed by Durkee-Segar Post #550 American Legion of Onsted. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 10, 2008 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
