Saint Charles (Illinois) Review, Aug. 29, 1879
Mr. Colby Kimball is dead. He fell into eternal sleep, last Monday evening, at nine o'clock. He was born in 1809, in Sheldon,Franklin county, Vermont. In 1830, he was married, and settled in Ogdensburg, New York. Shortly after he moved to Canada. After residing in Rochester and Buffalo he came west. For the past ten years he has resided in or near St. Charles. He was born in August, was married in August and died in August - a curious coincidence. He leaves to mourn his demise, a wife and four children, two of the latter living in the east and two in the west. The funeral, on Wednesday, was largely attended by friends. Rev. Freeman officiated. Mr. Kimball was by professional portrait painter and had an enviable reputation as such. As a citizen he was a credit to our town.
