"The name 'Kilvert' is attributed to a southern plantation owner, Kilvertwho moved his slaves to the area to work the mines when he himself got in on the boon and became a coal operator."
I can't find any basis for this statement. S Kilvert Jr and his brother were in Ohio in 1860, it looks like they were had moved there just before the census (brother has wife and baby up in Maine in 1860) and brother fought on Union side. S Kilvert, Jr. did stay around after the war and married a local girl (Elizabeth Dun, daughter of John Dun...but that's another story.....
