Liberty, Sullivan County, NY seems to be a small town, so perhaps there is a connection here.

My g-grandfather, Michael Gilroy (Kilroy) (b. 1814)immigrated from Ireland sometime btwn 1841-1850 and settled briefly in Liberty, NY before moving down to Scranton, PA. He married Mary Dolphin (b.~1818-Ire) and had 5 children: John, Maria, Margaret, Michael, and William.

There was also a Patrick Kilroy listed found in Liberty, NY in 1860... they were both tanneryhands.
