Kilpatrick, Fitzpatrick and Ellison in Greenbrier and Monroe Co WVA
I have reviewed the property records on line at the Library of Virginia Land Grant website in an effort to determine relationships between the Ellison/Allison and Kilpatrick, Kirkpatrick, Fitzpatrick families - especially to determine who are likely parents of the Elizabeth Kilpatrick [Kirkpatrick or Fitzpatrick] who married Asa Ellison in 1782 in Greenbrier co. A few notes: Asa Ellison was the son of James Ellison Sr. and Anne Enlish/Engles. Asa married "Elizabeth Kilpatrick" in 1782 according to Greenbrier Co marriage records. Greenbrier Co. was carved partly out Boutetort Co..The part of Greenbrier where the Kilpatricks and Ellisons lived later became Monroe Co.VA, then WVA.These records show several Kilpatrick males owned land along "Hands" or "Hans" Creek close to the Ellison, Paul, and Estill families.
Here are the relevant records summaries, but first, you may want to go to Mapquest and map Greenville, WVA - most of the properties discussed below are very close (SW of Greenville) in current Monroe Co. You will see Indian creek, Hans Creek and Fitz Run or Fitz Creek as well as Ellison's Ridge on the map if you zoom in. Summary of records;
