My G Grandfather, George Washington KILPATRICK, was apparently born in Aylmer, Ontario, Canada in 1859. Family legend has it that his father owned a wool mill in Ontario. I can find no references to this. I have found a Ralph KILPATRICK listed as a 'Wool Manse' in Stephen Township, Huron South, Ontario with a son George. Also a marriage of a George KILPATRICK (son of Ralph and Mary) to Emma GUMBERT (daughter of George and Sophia) in Crediton, Ontario on 16 October 1884. I always understood that my G Grandmother was called Ada Jane, but she could have been George's 2nd wife.
Does anyone know anything about this family, or about a wool mill in Ontario that was owned or run by a KILPATRICK?
I am in England so direct research is difficult.
