Going back over a letter I received from Alan Killip 1995 he writes the following:
"Also in the census was Thomas' brother John (born 1827 IOM) who married Emma rebecca Brodie (widow - maiden name Corlett - born 1825 Portsmouth England) In may 1952 they had three children: Robert (1853) John (1855) Ellinor (1857). On the marriage cert for John and Emma John's father is named Thomas."
He also says:
Records show Thomas Killip and Eleanor Killy (my forebears) were married IOM 1814. Baptismal records show their children as: Eleanor, Thomas, Robert. No John is mentioned there but sometimes children were baptised in a different parish."
So "John" seems to be a slight enigma. Possibly there is confusion re Thomas and Eleanor Killy and Thomas and Ann Killy. Very close marriage dates etc...
be nice to sort it though, and thanks very much for all your help, not wanting to be a pest.
