Dear Mr. Killian,

Benjamin Wilburn Killian was my great-great grandfather. He was born, as you reported, abt 1816 in Burke Co., N.C. (1860 CENSUS), but his death year was, according to our family information, 1901; burial in a family plot in Cherokee Co., N.C., rather than 1942. I found him in Cherokee Co., N.C. census enumerations for 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880. I cannot locate Ben Killion or any of his household in 1900 - quite a puzzle.

Martha Barnett was his first wife- they divorced May 1876 in Union Co., GA.

I have Martha Barnett's birth date/place as March 1826 Buncombe Co., NC (consistent with the information you shared)and her death date/place as June 30, 1900 in Cherokee Co., N.C., which I still need to verify. I'm also trying to identify her parents.

I have not been able to find anything after the 1860 census for their son, Daniel R. Killian. I wonder if he married then left the area...

If you run across any information that fills in the missing pieces, please keep me in mind.

Thanks so much.

Jean
