Marie-Christine Henrywas born on September4, 1839, at 1:00 a.m. at herparents'home
in the mill, in the village of Tanconville, the department of Sarrebourg, Meurthe-et-Moselle,
in the Province of Lorraine, France. She was the sixth child and the third daughter of
Xavaria Henry and Christina Killer.
ln 1847, she, with her parents and siblings, immigrated to the United States of America,
aniving at New Orleans, Louisiana, on January 19, 1847 , on the ship "North Carolina" from
L'Harve. The family settled in Cole County, Missouri, where Xavaria purchased 80 acres of
land west of the Osage River, east of Taos, Missouri, near what was then Shipley's Ferry,
from Archibald W. Cerneal and his wife Phoebe Ann Cerneal on April 3, 1847, for $300.00.
The Federal Census taken in Liberty Township, Cole County, Missouri, on September 18,
1850, lists as residents:
