Killen/Kellam, Goddard, Downs Connection??
Looking for a possible connection between the Killen/Kellam, Goddard and Downs families.A brother to my 3rd great-grandfather was named Henry Kellam Goddard. It is believed he was born c1780 in the Sussex County, DE and Somerset County, MD area. Many years ago I learned of a Henry Killen/Kellam Downs, who was a grandson of a James Downs who had lived on the DE/ME border and had moved to GA between 1792 and 1795.There is also a Benjamin Downs who died in Kent County, DE in 1816 and he mentions in his will his four Killen (Kellam, Kellum, etc.) grandchildren "children of my daughter Delila Downs Killen and Henry Killen."I believe my Goddards lived in the same general area of DE and MD as these Downs and Killen (Kellam, Kellum families. Is there a connection? Was there a Henry Kellam living in that area in the time frame of 1750-1800 who was perhaps a well known minister, soldier, politician, etc., whom these folks could have been named for or is there a family connection?Any help would be greatly appreciated.
