I have been told, but have no proof of the following 'story', however, it may lead me to my GGM,CATHERINE DELANEY, born in IRELAND c1835 moved to AUSTRALIA married RICHARD CLARKE and died in MUDGEE NSW 1912. The story goes...A Michael Delaney was transported to Australia in 1832, his youngest sister born 1835 was Catherine - they came from Kilkenny (City?) Ireland and had eight brothers and sisters. Michael was apparently an Irish rebel; his mother was Elizabeth Brennan, and his dad was also a Michael Delaney. There was a another sister also Catherine who was born in 1832 - I presume that she died infant - and then another girl child was also named Catherine ("my" Catherine). Michael became quite successful in Australia and owned a number of properties in the Young area of NSW with many relatives around the Young,Forbes area still. Michael's cousins came to live with him some time after he was given his Ticket of Leave and it is possible that "my" Catherine came out as well with that group????
Info please on CATHERINE DELANEY b. c1835 who went to Australia and there married my GGF RICHARD CLARKE and lived in Mudgee NSW.
