Kay,
My g-g-grandfather was Willis Kilgore, Sr. of Walton Co, GA. He owned Kilgore Grist Mill/ Kilgore Covered Bridge.
He was a state legislator and served as sheriff of Walton Co. at some time. I have also seen the name on many documents; for example marriage records. Before his name is says "J.P." Does this mean Justice of the Peace? (Sorry to sound ignorant. I just assumed that's what it meant). He and his wife and others are buried at the location of the old grist mill. Anyway, I hope this helps in some small way.
