In the will of James Kile, he asks his executor to put his minor children "out to some good trade", so it is entirely possible that Nathaniel was apprenticed to Simon Lauck to learn the gun making trade there in Winchester.
Of James' 13 children - James Jr. went to Monongalia Co. (W)Va
Robert stayed in Frederick Co
William probably ended up in Pickaway Co Ohio (There are a lot of Williams about his age)
Abraham, also to Pickaway Co
Isaac stayed in Winchester
Thomas - don't know
Reuben - may be the one in Fayette Co in 1830 census
Stephen - to Monongalia Co and then to Doddridge Co
Nathaniel in 1830 Ross Co. Ohio census
John - not sure
Francis - Ross Co Ohio from 1820 on
Levi - in Fayette Co with Reuben
And Sarah married Michael Albert and went to Fairfield Co., Ohio in 1850, ended up in 1860 in Piatt Co., Ill, where she died in 1863.
Have you tried looking in the census records for Nathaniel?
