I got the translation "son of the black servant," whose explanation makes it sound as if it should be "son of the servant of the blacks," in an email from Paul Kilduff*, the Irish financial fiction author.I was on webtv at the time, and he must have sent the message to all Paul Kilduffs he could find who had email.When I sent it to my brother he said, referring to our then-recently-deceased father, "If the Old Boy wasn't already dead, this woulda killed him.":o)
