Betty - can I step in? We know that Christian Keicher/Kiker was alive in 1797 when Conrad sold him 124 acres of land in Rowan Co. Without re-reading the 1911 letter, I believe the writer was referring to the birth year of Benjamin Franklin?
It is also possible that that Elizabeth, widow of Christian, was living with Conrad Kiker, who is mentioned in several deeds in the 1820's in Rowan Co. Conrad could have been a son of the Christian. Perhaps Elizabeth was his step-mother? This Conrad is listed as paying poll tax on the same list that Elizabeth pays tax on 124 acres.
