Thanks Donna.I would like to have all the Kikers listed on the 1811 Mecklenburg Co. NC Tax List (by any spelling).
The way that I discovered the full name of Christian (my Christian son of George Adam) is from his deeds in Anson Co. NC.
He bought his first parcel of land and recorded it as George Kiker. He bought his next parcel as Christian Kiker. When he sold all of his parcels of land including the one bought as George, he recorded it as Christian Kiker. His full name is George Christian or Christian George.
For John, the same thing. In Anson Co. NC Oct 16 1804, George Carker bought from Lee Yarborough 275 acres in fork of Rocky River and Richardson Creek. On Aug 19 1820 John Carker of Mecklenburg Co. NC sold this land to John Lee of Anson Co. NC. His full name is John George or George John which ever way you want to place it.(I never found him again.)
If you are thinking that John and Christian inherited this land, remember that George Adam Kiker died 1844 in Georgia and George Carriker/Karriker died 1836 in Georgia. John and Christian didn't inherit the land they sold.
I have copies of all the Kiker deeds by whichever spelling and I have copies for both the pension file for George Adam Kiker and George Carriker/Karriker.
Let me mention this while I'm discussing the two pensioners.Documents show that George Adam Kiker was in Rowan Co. NC when he entered service as a volunteer in 1777 then went to Mecklenburg Co. NC after the war ended. His first deed in Meck. Co. was written 5 Feb 1790 but recorded 12 July 1795. Then two of his sons went to Anson Co. NC. George Adam went to Cass (now Gordon) Co. Ga. with son Evan ca 1841 where he died in 1844.
George Karriker/Carriker was inMecklenburg (now Cabarrus)Co. NC when he entered service as a volunteer in 1778 and went to Anson Co. NC in 1802 where he made his declaration for his pension in 1832 and stated that he had lived in Anson Co. for 30 years.
and then to Heard Co. Ga. in 1835 where he died in 1836.I have a list of his children also if anyone needs it.
The clerks in Anson Co. NC spell the name various ways. Some under "C" and some under "K". George Carriker/Karriker's son Philip's name was corrupted into Kiker from Karcher. (It spilled over into Stanly Co. also in court minutes.) I have all of those deeds also. Even in the will of George Carriker/Karricker's wife Frances (Fanny)'s father, Robert Lee,the clerks wrote "Fanny Kiker".From all of this, plus more, it proves thatGeorge Adam Kiker did not have a son named Philip born 1786.
One of George Adam Kiker's sons died before 1790.It was not George John nor George Christian.
I hope this information will help someone.
Betty
