Looking for proof of John Kight's parents. John was born about 1780 in Virginia. He married Rhoda (Palmer?)possibly in Ross County, Ohio. He raised a large family in Jackson County, Ohio. (This John Kight is often times confused with the John Kight who was born in Maryland and married Catherine Van Gundy and also lived in Jackson County)
In the book "My Virginia Kin", a genealogy of John Kight is traced back to a Sir George Kite, who was supposed to have come to this country with William Penn. I have read that this George Kite never existed.
In this book John's father and mother are listed as James Kite Jr., and Harriet Hawkins of Augusta County, Virginia. I am wondering if anyone knows the origin of this information and if it can be verified by any documents? The author of this book, I believe, had hired a genealogist who found this information somewhere. Has anyone ever found the original source?
This genealogy is all over the internet, and I'm not sure if the part about John's parents has ever been verified.
I am hoping that somewhere there is someone who has been able to check this genealogy.
