Linda,

This information comes from two typed pages that are obviously part of a bigger document. I don't know who the author was. I wish I had the whole thing. I'll post this information rather than emailing it in case it's of interest to anyone else.

Henry Kight (b. 2/9/1760, d. 1/16/1827) married on 3/9/1783 to Rachel Acton (b. 1762, d. 3/14/1837). They had 9 children:

1. John D. (b. 6/15/1784, d. 4/30/1872) married Catherine Gundy
2. Caleb (b. 1/1/1787) married Hannah Sharpless
3. Joshua
4. Sarah
5. Cornelius
6. Henry, Jr.
7. Enoch
8. William
9. Richard (drowned at age 2)

I have information on the first two children, John D. Kight and Caleb Kight.

John D. Kight (b. 6/15/1784, d. 4/30/1872) married 5/14/1805 to Catherine Gundy (b. 2/4/1785, d. 11/23/1868). John and Catherine (Gundy) Kight were married May 14, 1805 at Chillicothe, Ohio. They lived for a while in Franklin County, Ohio and about 1829 or 1830 moved to Vermilion County, Illinois. Later they moved to Scotland County, Missouri and are buried on their farm, about 3 1/2 miles northwest of Crawford Station, MO.

They had the following (ten) children:

1. Henry (b. 12/9/1806, d. 6/13/1865), married Nancy and had 12 children
2. Rachel (b. 10/4/1809, d. 7/5/1887), married William Moore and had 5 children
3. Jacob (b. 7/23/1811), married Betsy Ann Stone and had 2 children
4. John Jr. (b. 2/3/1814), married Huldah Ryckman and had 9 children
5. Joseph (b. 5/13/1815, d. 11/8/1854), married Maria Nichols and had 7 children
6. Sally (b. 2/14/1817), married Abraham Love and had 2 children
7. Samuel (b. 6/15/1820)
8. Elizabeth (b. 3/18/1825), married Mr. Colvin
9. James (b. 1/12/1826, d. 12/9/1912), married Abby Bucklin and had 7 children
10. Joshua (b. 8/15/1828), married Orrill Bucklin and had 4 children

A story concerning the two youngest Kight boys, James & Joshua: "At the end of the Civil War the family was reunited, except for Joshua who had been unable to get transportation home. At last the family received a letter saying that he was coming up the Mississippi River by steamboat and would arrive at Quincy, Illinois, on a certain day. James drove a team and wagon to the shore opposite Quincy and after a lengthy wait, Joshua was rowed across the river to the spot where James was waiting. The brothers embraced and sobbed in each others arms. The beginning of the trip was almost incoherent with the quick telling of the family news and the accounts of the battles they had been in, but, when about half way home, Joshua let it be known that he still sympathized with the South. James stopped the horses and told Joshua to get out and walk. Joshua had more than 20 miles to go, so it was quite late that night when he was reunited with the remainder of the family. The two men were enemies for much of the remainder of their lives, but finally became friends when they were quite old men." The above account is from the manuscript of Mrs. Rowena Gundy DeWitz, Bedford, Ohio.
