Hi Keith
I hope you are still around

I have some interesting info

On the 1850 and 1860 Ohio Co VA census is the following unidentified woman

1850 Ohio Co VA 44th Dist 21 Jul 1850 Family 222-234
Mary Kiggins age 33 F PA
Rebecca Ann Kiggins age 12 F VA
Mary J Kiggins age 10 F VA
Sarah E Kiggins age 7 F VA
Rebecca Wymer? age 76 F Maryland

1860 Ohio Co VA Census page 88 (Nothing on this page is filled out except the page #) Family # 589-596
Polly Kiggins age 46 0 25 (VOPE) ditto for VA
Rebecca A age 20 VA
Jane age 18 F VA
Sarah E age 17 F VA

This Mary/Polly quite possibly is a widowed dau in Law to Thomas and Lydia
Interesting thing is I finally found the marriage records for Thomas and Lydia in my dads stuff

It reads as follows Thomas Higgins to Lidia Basclay 6 Jan 1814 by Wm Wilson
Just above them is Elias Higgins to Mary Foot 23 May 1813 WM Wilson
Wm Wilson swore to these on 5 May 1814

Daddy had it filed under Thomas's dau Mary E for some reason

This is from the original document

It reads as follows
State of Virginia
Ohio Co
I John McCulloch, Clerk of the County Court of Ohio County aforesaid in the state of Virginia, do certify
that Charles D Knox, before whom the foregoing announced/annexed? declarations, affidavit &
acknowledgement were made, was, at the time of taking the same and is now, a Justice of the Peace of within
and for the county and state aforesaid duly commissioned and sworn and that his said signature if guinen
And I further certify that among the record of Marriages in my office is the following, viz:
This is to certify to all whom it may concern that agreeable to the laws of Virginia, I have celebrated the
rites of matrimony between the following persons, viz: Elias Higgins & Mary Foot? (Hard to read her last name) on the 23 day of May 1813.
Nathan Hukill & Mary Eikols on the 17 June 1813. Isaac Seffler & Rebecca/Rebeca Foreman on the 4 November 1814
(Crossed out) 1813. Thomas Higgins & Lidia Baxley on the 6 Jany 1814. Given under my hand this 8 day of May 1814.
Wm Wilson
? by Teste: Wm Chapline Jr GOC/COC?
And further certify that the said County Court of Ohio County is a court of record having Common Law
jurisdication and a clerk and seal.
In Testimony whereof I hereto set my hand and affix the seal of the said County Court this 24 day of September 1855
Jno McCulloch

I have found several family members in 1830-1860 in Ohio Co VA listed as Higgins instead of Kiggins

James A Kiggins (son of Thomas and Lydia) who married Mary Jane Craft on the 1860 Ohio Co VA Census is listed as James Higgins
