Linda
Not sure whether the following helps but one of my Somerset based relatives invested a great deal of time some 40+ years ago in tracing our family history and origins. We have an extensive family tree which majors on the male line and is hard copy based.
It shows James Frederick Kidner b 1816 in Bermondsey London d Hamilton 1903. There were two children from his first marriage Reuben b 1846 and Selina bc 1848. Reuben moved to Boston Mass and the records track through to the current generation.
I have been unable to link any further references to Kidner/Hamilton although Frederick had three Nephews Walter b1838 William b1840 and Daniel b1850 through whom the line may be traceable.
Curiously traces before 1800 could be easier as we have good records back to 1490 and speculative ones back to 1135.
Please let me know if I can help further
Michael
