Hello,
I'm just finding this posting, and noticed I forgot to offer the latest URL for the "KIDDER web site."
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~kidderfamilyhistory/index.htmlhttp://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~kidderfamilyhistory/index.html
George Kidder, owner of that web site, is always looking for new information. He has spent many years trying to update the 1941 "KIDDER book."He is especially looking for KIDDER's after 1900.
My ancestor, Joseph KIDDER, and his 2 brothers, including Reuben KIDDER, left Westford, MA, in late 1700's to move to New Ipswich, NH.The 3 brothers all had many children. And, Reuben became well-known in NH both as a surveyor and an owner of a large apple orchard where "apple cider" was made and distributed throughout the state.Joseph and Rebecca (CHAMBERLAIN) KIDDER moved their 9 children to the next town, Temple, NH.I am descended from their son, Calvin KIDDER, b1765, who migrated to Canada ~1783.
Also in Westford, MA, another descendant of my ancestor, Thomas KIDDER (father of Joseph) was a mysterious child.A researcher in Westford found out that a Roscoe KIDDER was born at the "Poor Farm" and that record never made it to Town Hall. This Roscoe had his parents separating and he was sent to live with different families in NH.He became a soldier and went to the mid-west to fight. He remained there.(I posted about him 3-4 yrs. ago on some of the KIDDER Message Board and Mailing List atwww.rootsweb.com
That's all for the moment.
Betty(near Lowell, MA)
My KIDDER line is:James, John, Thomas, Joseph, Calvin, Joseph "Calvin," Joseph, George "Sanford," Clarissa.
