while recently taking off my garbage, the person in front of me spilled abox that to my surprise was full of genealogy papers. when i seen what they were i asked for them and also got a large gabage bag full. i can't estemate how many but going through them i learned they were research papers that the chief historian of tennessee had compiled during the 1930's and 1940's. there are probably 30 0r so surnames that were researched to the max in my opinion. it is also apparant that her husband was a historian also. her maiden name was fields - married a wayland.it jus so happens that i link in this family. KIdd is one of the surnames heavily researched-200-300 pages maybe more because this surname is also linked (just to mention a few) Nimmo, Ellis, Yeardly, Harrison etc... most familiesappear to go back to the 1600's and one i know of back to 12 years after the pilgrims landed at plymouth.Benjamin Frankins genealogy is even here. lots of info including ships these families arrived on. Although alot is in folders they are still mixed up but i will hep people as i can. I also learned that this ladies house was recently demolished which explain how I came across them. I live in knoxville my roots are in hawkins co. Hopefully i can piece together something for your news letter...
