The only Kidd family to ever live in Abbeville District, SC was George & Elizabeth Kidd who married and left Scotland ca. 1778 for Nova Scotia where they had 2 kids [pun] before they arrived in the Long Canes, SC, in 1781 or 82 rite after the war. George bought 80 acres on Long Cane Creek directly accross the creek from the lands of Robert & Anne Boggs McClinton.I dont know exactly where this is, but it is in the LLCARP and CSARP area.George Kidd died in 1827 in Abbeville District.
They had 8 more children on the Creek;
1. Elizabeth? Kidd b.ca.1780, N.S., m. Samuel Foster, a "Comissioner of the Presbytery" and I dont know where they went. They had at least one child, named George Foster as of 1827.
2. Archibald Kidd b.22 Mar 1781 N.S. m. 16 Nov 1802 by Rev. Porter to Elizabeth Morrison
and moved to Lincoln Co., Tn, where they are buried. One of their sons was named William.Archie d.1860.Check that out further.
3. William Kidd b.c.1783 inherited father's plantation, no idea of where he went.
4. Sarah Ann "Sally" Kidd b.ca.1785 m. Archibald Bradley. Both buried at LLCARP.
5. Mary Kidd b.ca.1787 m. John Bradley [Archie's bro.] Both buried LLCARP.
6. Jane Kidd b.ca.1790 m. Andrew Patterson, both stayed on the Creek.
7. Rebecca Kidd b.ca.1797 m. Samuel Coleman and they also moved to Lincoln Co., Tn.
8. John Kidd -Bapt. by Rev. Porter 2 Jan 1803, but may be a grandson rather than son.
The 1800 census has him living next door to Wm. Robinson and he has 5 boys and 5 girls, so i am missing 2 kids who must have died young. One of the kids could be George Kidd who is on the 1850 census in Troupe Co., Ga
Plz consider the possibility that your Wm. Siree Kidd b.1827 in Abbeville Dist. COULD be a GRANDSON of Archibald or William above.Almost 50 yrs difference there.Plz let me know more about "Aunt Nancy" in Arkansas.
I have often wondered if this land that George bought in 1781 was some of Samuel Boggs' the Tory, confiscated lands. Highly possible. Hope this helps, Ren Bradley, ggggr son of #5 above.
