Please be aware that the information on the LDS site about the colonial Kidds is not entirely correct.In this case, we have reasonably good documentation that Thomas Kidd, the immigrant ancestor of many Virginia Kidds, was the son of William Kidd and Elizabeth Nethercoate of Soham Parish, Cambridgeshire, England.There is no evidence of a Roger Kidd in this line.
The earliest known Kidd to arrive in Virginia was named Roger Kidd. However, records show that he died shortly after his arrival.He is presumed to have been single, since his few belongings were divided among some of his companions.
