my thinking is ;when henry kicklighter married sarahrebecca smith,1839 , elizabeth amanda ( eliza) mears was only15-or 16 years old ,but still possible that she had married at that age ,because my own mother m,at 13, but if you look at the age of the children in ? mary ann,b,1843,thomas,b,1844,elvira b 1845,this is census by what their ages was , 8,6,4, it is hard to say why these children were in the home of henry varnadoe, in one page it list mary ann as (mary ann kicklighter varnadoe) there might have been sickness in the kicklighter home (with the mother sarah rebecca) she may not have been able to take care of them ,when my mom's parents died she took in all her siblings and some of them (the little ones) took on our name ,but from all accounts these 3 children belonged to henry 1804,and sarah 1823, kicklighter ,have no explanation why they were in the home of henry varnadoe,????????? but they have a s,c, varnadoe web site ,and also breland family websits is where i found laura, hope this helps ,i'm no expert but i try to help. rae owens out of berkeley co,s,c, [email protected]. hope this helped...
