Dr. Palmer Kickland
Dr. Palmer M. Kickland, 73, of 1610 Southeastern Drive, died Thursday, October 28, 1993, in McKennan hospital.
Mr. Kickland was born Feb. 24, 1920, in Davenport Iowa.He recieved his education at Jasper Elementary in Jasper Minn., and graduated from Pipestone High School, Pipestone Minn.He then served in the Navy in World War II.
He married Irene Millis on Feb. 24, 1938 in Sioux Falls.He attended the Crandell Therapeutic Institute in York, Pa.He recieved his doctorate of chiropractic College in Davenport.He practiced chiropractic medicine with his father for a combined total of 98 years, 50 for his father 48 for him.He recieved his pilot's license in 1957.
He was a member of the Chiropractic Association of South Dakota; The NationalChiropractic Association; a member of the American Legion; El Riad Shrine; the Masonic Lodge; was co-founder of the fraternal Orderof Police Association Lodge and Crime Buster of Sioux Falls; and was a special deputy sheriff for Minnehaha County.He was past president of Whittier Junior High School Parents Teachers Association; and past president of the FOP Association Lodge No.1He was also the Wing commander of the South Dakota Civil Air Patrol and active in forming the Foreign Exchange Cadet Program of The Civil Air Patrol.
Survivors include his wife, Irene of Sioux Falls; one daughter, Mrs. Robert(Judy) Budd of Sioux Falls; one brother, Earl of Mitchell; and one nephew, Jim Kickland of Lennox.
Services will begin at 10 a.m. Monday in George Boom Funeral Home, with Burial in Hills of Rest Memorial Park.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the McKennan Hospice Program.
