LUCIUS KIBBE(6)(Amariah(5),Daniel(4),James(3),Elisha(2), Edward(1))
Son of Amariah and Anna (BUEL) KIBBE was born in Somers, CT, October 3, 1776.Records of Pittsfield, Vermont, indicate he was there in the 1790's.The History of Vermillion county, Indiana, says Lucius was taken prisoner by the British, and carried to Canada.After his release he migrated to Indiana in the early 1800'sHis first wife was names Elizabeth, as shown by a deed of February 1, 1814.It is believed she was born in Ohio, and died in Vermillion County before November, 1814 and is buried there.Her surname before marriage is not known.During the War of 1812, Lucius served in the 2nd and 4th Regiments of Indiana Militia.In 1814 he was engaged in ship building in Tennessee.Records of Jefferson Couty, Kentucky, show a marriage license issued, November 26, 1814 for Lucius KIBBE and Emily TAYLOR of Louisville, Kentucky.She wa born about 1796, the daughter of Absalom Taylor.This couple returned to Indiana, and settled in Parke County.About 1834, they moved further wes, living temporarily in Clark County, Illinois, and finally reached Dubuque County, Iowa.Here Lucius died May 12, 1849In his will of 1848, he named only the children of his second marriage.By 1851 his widow was living in Delaware County, Iowa and in that year applied for Bounty Land.
