It seems that a Phillipe Cesier or Cezier a french protestant , after a very round about trip settled in the colony of New Amsterdam on Manhatten in the early 1600's . He helped found and develop the village of Harleem ans was appointed a magistrate there . After his death his family moved to Staten Island and later to upstate NY .
According to Bertie Co., NC , historians , Chief Cashie is myth invented in 1857 .
