Tom, I was in Heidleburg about six years ago and saw the Keyser castle in the top of the hill overlooking Heidleburg.Charles was a descendant of Baron Joseph Augustus Kiser who built the Kiser Castle in 1519 in Heidleburg Germany. (From Pat Braswell: When I was in Heidleburg I saw the Kiser Castle but did not go through it. I did not know of our families connection until after I came home)
.
Later information about the castle in Heidleburg: The first Heidleburg Castle was built in the 13th century. Baron Joseph Augustus Kiser added a large addition to the castle in 1519. Since then there was another addition to the castle. It is very large and sits on top of a hill overlooking the town of Heidleburg on the Neckar River.
Most of this information comes from Vol. 22, #1075,Vol 19,#1705, Vol 22, #1918. Determining the childrens mothers could only be done by birthdates and the marriage of Charles to Elizabeth Shelley in 1750.
Charles Keyser (also in Germany known as Carl Keiser or Kiser) was born in the Duchy of Wurtenburg, near Stuttgart, Germany in 1702.
In 1730 he married Elzabeth Grosclass and they had four known children before Elizabeth died about 1749. Charles came to America landing in Philadelphia on the "Patience" on Sept. 19, 1749. Charles married Elizabeth Shelley in 1750 and they had eight known children.
Charles' first wife could have died in Germany, or on the ship coming to America, or in Philadelphia after arrival.
They had a daughter Elizabeth Keyser who married my Henry Hurst. Pat Braswell
