James Keys is listed in the 1st Civil District, Johnson county, TN in 1850. His age is shown 72 [thus 1778]. A lister has noted his birth on 25 Oct 1774. I know not which is more correct. He was born in VA. His wife is Margaret [Doran]. She is 66 [thus 1784] on enumeration date 17 Aug. Her birth has been noted to be 10 Mar 1783, and that is the year arrived at by subtraction on enumeration date 1 June 1860 when her listed age is 77. She is then living with a son, David [Lowry} Keys. He was born in 1823, possibly on 19 September.
James is not listed in 1860 and Margaret is not listed in 1870.
